Islam lays great stress upon daily prayers which is one of the pillars of Islam. As the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said in an important hadeeth: -
"The example of the five (daily) prayers is like that of a clear-water river flowing in front of your houses in which a person washes five times a day – cleansing him from all dirt." Kanzul `Ummal, Volume 7, Tradition 18931 In the Holy Quran, Allah commands Muslims to take care of their obligatory prayers, again and again, suggesting the importance of prayers. It is because of the numerous benefits it renders for Muslims. Prayer times begin from the first hour of the morning till night. The idea is that at any hour of the day a Muslim breaks from all the worldly affairs to submit himself to the will of Allah. Praying salah is a great way to build a connection with Allah. A Muslim invokes Allah five times during the prayer timings which Allah dearly loves. Allah listens to the prayers and immensely rewards his men. Another important hadeeth reveals: - "One obligatory prayer is better than performing Hajj twenty times, and the performance of one Hajj is better than giving away a house full of gold." Biharul Anwar, Volume 82, Page 227 Praying salah is also a great way to cleanse one's soul. It not only keeps a person physically clean as you perform ablution for the five prayer timings but also purifies your soul from evil. This is why the devil tries his best to stop a Muslim from praying. Offering daily prayers consistently is the first step on the Righteous Path. It makes a person more pious and closer to Allah. This connection brings such contentment and inner peace that nothing else in the world could bring. It strengthens a Muslim's faith in Allah making him face all the worldly obstacles and problems strongly. The importance of prayers can be judged by the fact that a Muslim is supposed to offer prayer in any condition. If he is sick, he can offer by sitting down. If he cannot sit, he can still offer prayer by lying down, but missing a prayer is not permissible. For every missed prayer, a Muslim must offer Qadha and vow to consistently perform the daily prayers. There is a huge reward for praying salah. It protects a Muslim from the fire of Hell. Those who regularly offer the daily prayers with great attention will enter the paradise through Baab As-Salaat, a door of Jannah. Prayers also protect a Muslim from the horrible torment of the grave. Angels give glad tidings and guard the grave of those who are punctual in praying Salah. To make the most out of this life and earn great rewards for the hereafter we must realize the importance of prayers and offer them with punctuality.
